Free User Fees And Rates Being Discussed

Mar 10/10 - One city alderman thinks it might be worth eliminating some user fees and charges in the short-term. The way rates are determined is now being analyzed by city staff. Alderman Ty Schneider says pools and ice might not be as full as they could be because of rising costs and he says they need to be looking at ways of making it more accessible for everyone involved. Schneider says the other issue facing today's youth is obesity and making it inexpensive to go into swimming pools and ice rinks would help that out. But Alderman Jeremy Thompson is skeptical, saying the results would be short-lived. Concern has also been raised over how often Schneider sees empty transit buses.
