Mar 12/10 - The jobless rate in Medicine Hat-Lethbridge continues to buck national trends. For a second-straight month, the unemployment rate has jumped again in Southern Alberta. Statistics Canada says the rate sits at 6.4% for February, a rise from 6% in January. The year-to-year comparison is also higher, as the mark in February 2009 was 4.7%. 1,200 fewer people had jobs in that time. Alberta's jobless rate sits at 6.6% while the national number a tenth of a percent to 8.2%.
