Mar 13/10 - Alberta's Environment Minister says he doesn't expect another boom as large as we saw earlier this decade. Medicine Hat MLA Rob Renner was responding to the province's new royalty rates, issued following a competition review. Renner says streamlining regulatory processes doesn't mean getting companies to "race" to the oilsands, it's about getting all affected parties involved. He says the environmental impact should then be able to be mitigated. The province announced on Thursday it would be cutting its take from oil and gas royalties to 40% for oil and 36% for natural gas. The move is expected to entice more business to enter Alberta.
