Mar 15/10 - One of two men killed in an avalanche near Revelstoke on Saturday had local ties. Shay Snortland grew up in Redcliff and Manyberries before moving on to become a business partner with Kurtis Reynolds in Strathmore. The pair died during a snowmobile event on Boulder Mountain, where snowmobilers compete to climb the highest. Avalanche officials say the slide was triggered by "human activity". Family friends say Snortland's wife, Janine, is from Medicine Hat.
