Mar 17/10 - A city committee is hoping education will be front and centre with reducing the use of plastic shopping bags. Uwe Krickhan came to council for a third straight year last month, looking for a ban. But Alderman Jamie White says small business is still apprehensive. "Its a slow evolution process and education process," said White. "It's going to happen anyway. I dont think we need city hall, big brother to come down on them hard, I think we we have to educate the public and its happening." The committee will recommend putting the bag issue on the "Waste Management Strategy" to analyze in detail for 2011.
