Mar 19/10 - The Medicine Hat Police Service will be losing one of its long-time members in a couple of weeks. Chief Andy McGrogan says Constable Barry Steier, the alleged victim of a high-profile attack in mid-January, will be leaving soon. He says Steier is out of hospital and recovering well, having visited a few times, but with some lingering problems he's decided to retire, effective April 1st. McGrogan calls Steier a "good patrolman" and will be missed. Steier's wife, Shauna, faces charges including attempted murder and will be back in court later this month.
