Wasting Disease Found In Deer Near 'Hat



Mar 19/10 - One of twelve new cases of Chronic Wasting Disease has been found in a wild deer near Medicine Hat.  It was found south of the Trans-Canada Highway about 25-kilometres from the city.  Anothe rcase was found east of Highway 884 near the Red Deer River while the other ten were detected in areas where the disease has been found in the past, along the eastern border of central Alberta.  The twelve cases bring the 2009 total to 13, while 74 cases have been found since detection began in 2005.
